What does recommending a post or reply do?

Recommending is how you show an author or fellow user you like their content. Recommending a post or reply will send a notification to the user letting them know that you've recommended their content.

Recommending a post you've authored will display the headline at a larger size on your blog. You can recommend a post from the homepage, or from within the post permalink page, by clicking the star at the top of the post.

If you're a member of a group blog, the author or an admin of that blog can also increase the headline size by recommending the post.

If you're the post's author, recommending a reply will feature it in your Author's Discussion section, making it easier for visitors to find and interact with. On group blogs, replies and recommends from admins and the owner will also feature in your Author's Discussion.

Blog owners and admins can also recommend a video or image in a post. Recommending media is only available on Youtube, Vimeo, and Viddler clips, as well as images of 800 pixels wide or larger. Recommending any media will forgo the normal thumbnail on your blog's home page, and instead display the image at 800 pixels wide. Mix & match recommended images and headlines for eye-grabbing results!
